First Graders Enjoy a Fall Adventure at Outhouse Orchards

On Thursday, Oct. 9, all Hendrick Hudson first grade students from Furnace Woods and Buchanan-Verplanck Elementary Schools came together for a fun-filled field trip to Outhouse Orchards in North Salem.
“This is the best day ever!” said Jack, a Furnace Woods student.
“It was amazing!” added Emily from Buchanan-Verplanck.
The day was packed with hands-on activities, outdoor exploration and memorable learning experiences. Students picked fresh apples, took a scenic hayride around the farm and worked together to make their way through a corn maze.
They also participated in a variety of kid-friendly activities in the play yard. Each student had an opportunity to choose their very own pumpkin to take home!
“It was great because of the hayride and picking the pumpkins,” Sarah from B-V said. “I also saw people making giant bubbles and started to make them.”
To conclude the visit, everyone enjoyed a delicious cider donut, making the outing even sweeter.
“The trip was a fantastic way for first graders to connect with nature, bond with classmates, and create lasting memories,” said Mrs. Valerioti, a Furnace Woods first-grade teacher.
